Arjen Robben made a notable appearance at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday during Manchester City’s commanding 5-1 victory over Wolves in the Premier League. The Dutch football icon, who had previously played under Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich, was invited into the City dressing room post-match, adding to the excitement of the occasion.

Robben, known for his humorous anecdotes about Guardiola’s dedicated work ethic, took the opportunity to congratulate the City squad on their impressive performance against Wolves. He encouraged them to maintain their pressure on title rivals Arsenal. Robben’s career has seen him represent esteemed clubs like Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Real Madrid, PSV, and Groningen.

During his visit to the UK over the weekend, Robben wasn’t solely confined to the Etihad. Social media buzzed with images of him at Anfield, where he joined former Bayern Munich teammate Thiago Alcantara in the players’ area, witnessing Liverpool’s 4-2 victory over Tottenham.

As Manchester City pursues their quest for a fourth consecutive Premier League title, they now require three victories out of three to secure the trophy. Guardiola, reflecting on the win over Wolves and contemplating the title race ahead, emphasized the significance of the remaining two weeks and the importance of securing nine points to claim the championship.

“If we only earn seven points, six points, or three points in the remaining matches, Arsenal will clinch the Premier League title. Goal difference won’t be a factor, and drawing isn’t an option for us. Arsenal’s consistent and impressive performance throughout the season has put them in a strong position.

“We have three games left, and ideally, we win the first two to approach the third match with our destiny in our own hands. Despite today’s 5-1 result, I don’t feel entirely satisfied. We lost possession too easily, especially against teams that press high. However, credit must be given to Wolves for their effective tactics and the threat posed by players like Hwang Hee-chan and Matheus Cunha.”
