Former Miami Dolphins and Indianapolis Colts cornerback Vontae Davis was found deceased in his South Florida residence on Monday, as confirmed by the police. They stated there was no evidence of foul play.

Law enforcement in Davie, a suburb of Fort Lauderdale, responded to a call regarding a medical issue at Davis’ home on Monday morning. However, upon arrival, the 35-year-old was already deceased. The precise cause of death has not been disclosed, pending further examination. Police mentioned that they are actively investigating the matter.

Davis, who was drafted by the Dolphins in 2009 from Illinois, had a career spanning ten seasons in the NFL. The Dolphins expressed their sadness over Davis’ unexpected passing and extended condolences to his family and loved ones via a social media statement.

Following his three seasons with Miami, Davis was traded to the Colts in 2012, where he played for six seasons. Colts owner Jim Irsay shared prayers for Davis’ family and posted a photo of Davis in a Colts uniform online.

The Colts, in their statement, expressed their profound sadness at the news of Davis’ passing. They praised him not only for his on-field performance but also for his positive demeanor as a teammate.

Despite a brief stint with the Buffalo Bills in 2018, Davis retired from football after just two games, citing multiple injuries and surgeries. The Bills expressed their condolences, expressing sadness at Davis’ passing and offering thoughts to his friends and family.

Throughout his career, Davis played in 121 games, making 22 interceptions and scoring one touchdown. He earned Pro Bowl selections in 2014 and 2015 during his time with the Colts.
